Condo Amenities Can Really Make the Vacation

There’s a lot to be said for condo amenities, and our last Gulf Shores & Orange Beach vacation really proved this, as we ended up having a few days of not-so-beachy weather.

Rain on a beach vacation: a big summer bummer, right? You can’t get outside, you can’t go swimming…unless you’re staying at Gulf Shores Plantation, where one of the seven condo pools is an indoor pool. This indoor pool really saved our vacation during these rainy days. We also spent some time working out in the fitness room (a good way to burn off the inevitable vacation junk-food habit), and the kids really enjoyed playing in the resort’s Adventure Zone Game Room.

We had a blast without even having to leave—and not just on the rainy days. When it was nice out, we had six other resort pools to enjoy, as well as eight tennis courts, a basketball court, shuffleboard courts, and a horseshoe pit. You can really stir up some good competitions with amenities like this, not to mention some quality family time. And with Kiva Dunes (our favorite Gulf Shores golf course!) right next door, my better half and I made sure to take advantage of the Plantation’s putting greens—an excellent warm-up before an even better round of golf.

Another favorite amenity of mine is the Connections Café. Because let’s face it: you can’t always completely leave work behind, and Connections is the perfect place to plug in and do what you have to do for a bit while still enjoying a beach view. If you have to do a little work, this is the place to do it.

We’ll be back soon for sure—the cooler weather of fall is another good time for some indoor swimming and Gulf Coast golf!
