Get Out and Enjoy Gulf Coast Nature This Fall

Well, the fall beach getaway was a success. Our stay at Gulf Shores Plantation was wonderful as usual, weather was great, golf was even better…the whole family had a great time. And I realized just what it is I love about our fall vacations in Gulf Shores & Orange Beach.

In the summer, we spend a lot of time lounging around the six outdoor pools at Gulf Shores Plantation and playing in the Gulf because, naturally, it’s hot—no better place to be than the water when it’s summertime hot.

But during this latest vacation, I think we spent at least half of our time exploring local nature spots. The weather almost demanded it: comfortably warm, not hot (definitely not cold!), completely ideal for getting outside. And there are so many ways to enjoy Gulf Coast natureWe walked the trails at the Alabama Coastal Birding Trail and the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge. We ventured over to Gulf State Park for a picnic and a little ziplining at the Gulf Adventure Center. We even spent a day at the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo—viewing the natural habitats of more than 400 animals never gets old.

Not that I needed it, but the experience definitely validated our need for a fall beach vacation. We’ll be back next fall for sure.
