I
don’t remember ever having a “fall break” as a kid. We had a day off for Labor
Day, and then I believe that was it until Thanksgiving break. But my kids are
getting a fall break—a couple extra days off in October. A nice, long weekend.
I’ve heard parents complain about this extra time out from school.
They
are simply looking at this the wrong way. This upcoming fall break is an
opportunity, a chance to bring the family on another beach vacation. Hands
down, you’ll want to spend that fall vacation at Gulf Shores Plantation.
We
go every year in the fall. And in the spring and summer, and pretty much any
time of the year…but I do think fall is my favorite time of year to visit. Gulf
Shores & Orange Beach weather is just fabulous in the fall—cooler than in
the summer, yet certainly not cold. It’s perfect for spending time outside, and
that’s exactly what we do: we take advantage of the Gulf-front resort’s tennis
courts (we have sort of an ongoing family tennis tournament that never really
ends, it simply resumes whenever we return); and for that matter, we also take
advantage of the basketball and shuffleboard courts, and the horseshoe pits (we
are a competitive family). Outdoor swimming is often still very much an option
with six outdoor pools and the Gulf of Mexico. And on those days when it’s just
a little too cool for outdoor swimming, there’s always the resort’s indoor
pool—a perfect alternative.
Once
we’re done with those daytime activities, the condo itself is the perfect
retreat. We fix dinner together in the fully furnished kitchen, maybe watch a
movie together or play some card games, then retreat to our own bedrooms for
the night—love how a multi-bedroom condo offers both closeness and space!
