Even though the National Shrimp Festival is still a ways off (October 10th-13th), it’s one of those events I like to plan ahead for in any way possible. Planning our stay is the easy part—we will of course book a Gulf Shores Plantation condo for the duration of the Shrimp Festival.
Now what I want to plan is our participation in the Shrimp Festival Poster Contest. Basically, you design a poster for the 42nd Annual National Shrimp Festival, and if your artwork is chosen as the winner, it becomes the official artwork for Shrimp Festival merchandise. The winner also receives $1,000.
So here’s my plan: Both of my kids have really gotten into art over the last couple of years. Therefore, I thought it would be fun if we all came up with a design as a family, and they put their skills to use for this contest. The Shrimp Festival is a fun family event, Gulf Shores & Orange Beach is our favorite family vacation spot…why not make this contest a family activity as well?
The deadline for submitting artwork is Friday, March 8th—time to get to work on this! More information about the contest is available at the Shrimp Festival website.
