I absolutely love the Alabama
Gulf Coast in the spring. It is the perfect time of year to enjoy the sugary
white beaches and the sparkling turquoise waters. While we love the sand in our
toes, my family and I also love to get out and explore the local scenery. We
have discovered that spring is a great time of year to go and explore the
abundant nature that lies along the Gulf Coast. There are numerous nature
trails located conveniently down the road from our favorite resort, Gulf Shores
Plantation.
Have you ever heard of the BonSecour National Wildlife Refuge? It provides a safe haven for all
the wildlife along the beaches. Their four unique trails range from short 1
mile hikes to 4+ mile expansions. I love that it gives you an opportunity to
discover all the different habitats of the refuge, which include dunes, swales,
wetlands, maritime forests and scrub habitats. There is also the opportunity to
see species of wildlife, plants and birds. It is so hard to pick which trail I
like the best! That’s why we usually try to walk on each one during our annual visit.
Make sure you go and explore some fascinating nature on your next trip to Gulf
Shores Plantation!
