Plan a Winter Gulf Vacation, and Plan to See a Show

Not that I need one, but…I officially have an excuse to begin thinking about our first Gulf Shores & Orange Beach vacation in 2013. The lineup for the 2013 Entertainment Series is out, and I’m already considering which show I want to be in town for.

Basically, this series presents eleven shows (from six different acts) throughout January and February. The types of shows vary from vocal and instrumental ensembles to choreographed dance productions. Tickets go on sale October 1st, so there’s still a little bit of time to decide.

And what a great time of year for this type of Gulf Shores event! For me personally, January and February tend to be downer months—the post-holiday, mid-winter blues really set in at that time. Why not break it up with a winter beach vacation? Gulf Shores & Orange Beach has mild winter temperatures, making it possible to still enjoy a walk on the beach, or a round of golf on the Gulf. And swimming is not out of the question, thanks to Gulf Shores Plantation’s indoor pool.

So it’s a plan—we’ll set ourselves up in a Gulf Shores Plantation condo and spend a few days doing some indoor swimming, gazing at the Gulf from our private beach-front balcony, and watching a show at the Erie Meyer Civic Center in Gulf Shores. For once I’m actually looking forward to January/February!
