Summertime Means Time for Some Beach Shopping!

I’m about to engage in one of my favorite summer activities—vacation shopping. We’ll be heading back to Gulf Shores & Orange Beach soon, so shopping is a necessity (and a fun way to get ready).

When the kids were younger I would go shopping for new sand toys and floaties, since we were guaranteed to spend a significant amount of time at Gulf Shores Plantation’s seven pools. Now that they’re older, they pretty much handle their own shopping. It’s bitter-sweet really—I miss the floaty days, but at least I get to spend more time shopping for beach outfits and swim suits for myself!

But I don’t want to do all of the shopping before the vacation. One of the things I love about vacationing in Gulf Shores & Orange Beach is the shopping. There’s the Tanger Outlet Center in Foley, which offers well-known outlet stores like the Gap, Tommy Hilfiger, Old Navy, and many other stores. Then you have places like SanRoc Cay and Zeke’s Landing in Orange Beach—excellent places to find unique jewelry and gifts and apparel with more of a local flavor.

And if we all want to get out together for some shopping, usually The Wharf is a good place to go—lots of restaurants, and somehow my kids tolerate my shopping sprees better when there’s the promise of a ride on the southeast’s largest Ferris wheel or even a live concert.
