Need a Reason for a Gulf Shores Vacation in August?

Alright, I have discovered the perfect reason to squeeze in one more Gulf Shores & Orange Beach vacation before summer is done: the SEC BeachFest, taking place August 23rd to 26th.

I don’t think this will be a hard sell to the family. All I have to do is say “SEC” to my husband and I’ll have his undivided attention. Then when he hears about the four days of live music, the golf tournament (with the championship game played at Kiva Dunes—right next door to Gulf Shores Plantation!), the SEC coaches that will be present, and the general weekend-long kickoff to the SEC football season, he’ll be sold.

Then I’ll have to convince him that we need to stay for the whole week, not just the four BeachFest days. Again, not a hard sell—fourth and seventh nights are free at Gulf Shores Plantation, plus their 2012 rates are the same as their 2010 rates. I see no reason at all not to take this beach vacation.

And I’m sure the kids will jump at the chance to spend another week at our favorite Gulf Shores resort—it’s hard to say no to white-sand beaches and seven resort pools!
