Why I Enjoy Rainy Days at the Beach

We had a couple rainy days recently—I mean, truly rainy days. The kind where you are staring at rain all day long and there is no getting out to do anything. The kids were completely bored despite our efforts at playing games and taking them to a couple movies.

Know what finally cheered them up? Looking at old vacation photos and videos. Then we came across some photos from our summer vacation in Gulf Shores & Orange Beach when it rained half the week, and we realized that even a rainy day at the beach is better than a good day at home—and is especially better than a rainy day at home.

Simply being in our Gulf Shores Plantation condo made the rainy day experience a good one. We weren’t able to get out on the beach those first few days, but we could sit on our balcony and enjoy the Gulf view while reading or listening to music, or even playing some board games. Just knowing we were at the beach and enjoying our Gulf-front condo was enough. (Not to mention it forced some much-needed family togetherness!)

And if we really started to get antsy, there were always the resort amenities. In particular, the indoor pool was a lifesaver. No matter how much we enjoyed our beach condo, we had kids on vacation—swimming was a must. The kids also took advantage of playing arcade games in the Adventure Zone, while my husband and I enjoyed the exercise room. And that was just the first part of the week. Once the sun came out later in the week, it was a whole new vacation.

Yeah, we love us some Gulf Shores Plantation. Can’t wait to get back down there.
